While the focus is on current LEGO parts, historical anecdotes are included to help readers understand how the LEGO System in Play evolved over time.

The LEGO Parts Guide initially launched as a meticulously organized online guide in 2024 and is being adapted into a printed book for release in 2026. The print version adds a lot of content not included in the online guide. Most notably, each of the 12 chapters includes an explanation of how the parts in that category work, some insights into how the parts were developed, and detailed illustrations showing how parts work together.
