BUILDING CONTEST: Build your hometown landmark using LEGO

Build a LEGO model of your favorite building from your Hometown, and you could win a great prize in Brick Architect’s first LEGO building contest! Read on for the rules, and the prize you could win.

Your challenge here is to re-create an iconic building from your hometown using LEGO bricks. This could be a building where you grew up, or where you live now. Build in whatever scale you choose, so go big, micro, or somewhere inbetween. You can build the model using real LEGO bricks, or using your favorite LEGO digital building software.

Given the small number of entries are you still planning to pick a winner ?

    • Michael Kindness says:

Yes… We may be several months late, but expect an announcement within the next week! (and apologies for the delay!)

This is my MOC of the Clock Tower from Rockford, Illinois. Does the submission still count if the real building is no longer standing? (at the time I completed the model, the building was still there)

    Hello,
I would be so happy if I could participate, but I’m from outside the United States.
Anyway, I share with you my model of Palacio de la Moneda, photographed next to the original.

I would like to submit a MOC of a building in a city close to me. I visit it often and spend a lot of time there but don’t actually live there. Would this disqualify my entry ?

  6. Here’s my MOC of Richland County Courthouse on Display at the MonDak Heritage Center in Sidney Montana. Approx. Mini-figure scale and added figures to enhance the display. Approximately 8250 elements. Thank you for the contest. Looking forward to all the entries.

    • Stephen Doerk says:

Excellent MOC! From Montana myself (Great Falls) and deciding on an idea from there for my entry. Have never designed a MOC myself so will probably not be fantastic for a first effort, but I’ll try to give you a run for your money!!

      • Tom Alphin says:

You should definitely participate. I recommend picking a couple potential buildings, and doing quick rough sketches using LEGO bricks to see which building works better using LEGO.

        good luck!

      • Lorren Loveless says:

Thanks. You should definitely build one. Nice to see a fellow Montanan interested in building. Good luck and love to see your work.

  7. Sergey says:

Why should the contestants live only in the USA? This is a big minus to your site

    • Tom Alphin says:

      Sergey,
This is our very first contest, so we are keeping things simple by restricting the prize to USA addresses. International shipping and logistics can be complicated and costly.

I hope to extend it to a global audience for future contests.

      Sincerely,
      —tom

And here’s my MOC of the Jefferson Memorial, also in Washington, DC. As with the Kennedy Center album, the description on Flickr points out a few of the features of the build. Cheers!
