Review: #21368 Snoopy’s Doghouse (Peanuts)

Classic cartoons with LEGO bricks are popular on LEGO Ideas — but will you end up in the doghouse if you add this set to your collection?

While it is not a huge part of my life as an adult, I remember fondly watching A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965), as well as Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977). They already felt like classics as a child growing up in the 80s. I also remember reading the comics in the newspaper, but they weren’t nearly as interesting as Calvin & Hobbes which I loved.

#21368 Snoopy’s Doghouse (Peanuts) is the latest LEGO Ideas set based on an untapped vintage theme. The set will be released on June 1, 2026 for $89.99 (79.99€ / £69.99 / 129.99 CAD / 129.99 AUD), designed for ages 18+, and contains 964 pieces. Pre-order now at LEGO.com or your favorite retailer.

My immediate impression when the set arrived was that they captured the moment of Snoopy and Woodstock on the roof of his doghouse well. This was followed by the realization that the doghouse would dominate the build process and it didn’t look very interesting to build at first glance.

Build Process

This set includes 10 numbered bags and one instruction booklet. There wasn’t anything else loose in the box this time.

The set contains 10 numbered bags.

Bags 1-3: Snoopy & Woodstock

The First Bag is a bit complicated, since Snoopy’s undersized body is a fairly complex assembly involving tiny arms attached with clips, and a round belly attached using SNOT techniques. A Ball Joint w/ Axle Hole, 1-Side (Part 32474) is attached to an axle pointed upwards with a black Life Ring (Part 30340) loosely around the neck representing his collar.

We start building the big round head in Bag 2, which also employs a lot of SNOT techniques. An axle comes out of one side, and a pair of 2×2 Turntables (Part 3680) are found on opposing sides. The Third Bag is where we finish building Snoopy’s head, and attaching it to his tiny body. The nose is very large, adequately capturing his appearance as I remember from my childhood plus periodic reminders because he remains relevant in popular culture. Even cuter is the tiny Woodstock, which achieves a delightful shape despite an economy of parts.

Build Time: 24 minutes. (Bag 1: 11 minutes, Bag 2: 6 minutes. Bag 3: 7 minutes.)

Bags 4-5: Base and Backdrop

In Bag 4, we build a large square platform with rounded corners using SNOT techniques. This involves a large central section with studs facing outwards on two sides, and a pair of assemblies with rounded corners that attach on either side. Finaally, we add 5 clumps of grass, using the same part used for Woodstock’s hair, but in 37Bright Green.

In Bag 5, we build three black panels which are decorated by 1×1 round tiles with a white dot on them. They are pretty clearly meant to be stars, although I wonder why they used dots instead of a small starburst shape. The left and right panel attach to the middle one with clips, and the middle one also connects to the base with clips.

Build Time: 18 minutes. (Bag 4: 11 minutes, Bag 5: 7 minutes.)

Bags 6-9: Dog House

We begin to create the iconic doghouse shape in Bag 6. It is made using mostly studs-up techniques, although there are outward-facing studs on either side for later. A printed “Snoopy” tile is integrated into the wall above the arched entryway. Bag 7 adds walls on either side, and a couple parts on the roof. The walls are made of three panels which are 3-modules tall, with a tiny gap between them which is 1/2 module wide. (1/2 of the width of a LEGO brick.)

We start with the front and back walls.

Bag 7 is quick, since we just build a pair of panels that are used for the side walls. They do employ a 1/2-stud gap between the three sections, which is achieved using Jumpers.

The wall and roof sections use jumpers to achieve a narrow gap between the three panels.

Bags 8 and 9 continue in the same vein, but with a pair of panels for the sloped roof, and a 2-stud wide section along the roofline that I was surprised to see is an inverted 2-stud wide plate. It’s a little strange to have antistuds visible ona model where almost every stud is covered by tiles.

Everything comes together nicely.

Build Time: 27 minutes. (Bag 6: 13 minutes, Bag 7: 5 minutes, Bag 8: 5 minutes, Bag 9: 4 minutes.)

Bags 10: Final Vignettes

Bag 10 presents builders with a choice: Snoopy lying down on the roof, Snoopy sitting on the roof with the Typewriter, and Snoopy and Woodstock roasting marshmallows by the fire. I chose to build the sub-assemblies for all three options, which require you to swap out the legs to support standing or sitting postures.

Build Time: 14 minutes (for all three poses).

Value

It can be more difficult to assess the value of smaller sets compared with sets well over $100, but I still think it is a useful comparison to consider these objective measures of value.

This set offers a good price-per-part of 7.2 cents, but the price-per-gram is below average at 11.4 cents per gram. This objective measure of value tells us that the set contains a lot of tiny parts, and doesn’t offer an unusually good value. That said, this table includes a lot of older sets and prices have been creeping up, so this set is probably slightly above average value for 2026.

Conclusion

This set slightly exceeded my initial expectations, but only because I was underwhelmed by the prospect of building a boring red doghouse. In practice, even the doghouse has some more interesting techiques than I had anticipated, and it honestly didn’t take all that long to build. I also appreciated the alternat scene hidden inside, because it captures the playful spirit of Snoopy and Woodstock sitting around a campfire.

Most importantly, Snoopy’s iconic shape is captured well enough in this brick-built representation. While I recognize his head is way too large in the cartoons, I feel like it would have looked slightly better if the body was a little bigger. By contrast, I think Woodstock is brilliant. Capturing the essence of a character with so few parts is a real challenge, and I think they did a great job. Certainly, a moulded figure would have been more precise, but it is more fun to actually build the characters out of bricks.

While the price-per-part is fine, the build process feels too short for a set costing nearly 100$. This bears out in the price-per-minute of $1.07 which is well above average, and this is a generous estimate because I built all three poses. While this is unmistakably a great gift option for the Snoopy lovers in your life, #21368 Snoopy’s Doghouse (Peanuts) feels like a pretty average set overall, earning our Good (3/5 star) rating.

If you are nuts for Peanuts, #21368 Snoopy’s Doghouse (Peanuts) is a pretty good set!
